French Baguette Bread


  • 1 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1 1/4 pkg active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3 3/4 Cups flour


  1. mix yeast and warm water together, set aside 5-8 minutes until foamy
  2. put flour in mixer bowl and stir in the salt
  3. When yeast/water mix is foamy pour into flour/salt mixture
  4. mix until dough comes together and pulls away from sides of bowl
  5. Let dough hook continue to knead until smooth and elastic about 8 minutes
  6. Place dough in greased bowl
  7. cover with damp cloth and put in warm place to raise for about 2 hours until double
  8. turn dough out on floured surface
  9. separate dough into 2 or 3 pieces
  10. Roll each piece of dough into long, thin, loaves with slightly tapered ends
  11. Place loaves on to baking tray
  12. slit tops of each loaf 2-3 times each
  13. let raise again for approx 30 minutes
  14. Bake at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden
